For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
2 Timothy 1:7
The God we serve has not given us a spirit of fear. We serve a mighty God that empowers us to live the Christian life no matter what’s happening in the world. Other forms of religion call upon a god that has no power that’s because their god is dead. But we serve a living God who is alive today and forever. What’s His name? Jesus Christ!
As Christians you can walk through the uncertainty of this world and know everything will be alright, because of the God you serve. Jesus has given us power to live victorious over every devil that may come against us. Jesus has given us supernatural love to forgive our enemies (which is a hard thing to do).
What does it mean to have “power from God”?
This could mean a lot but let’s just talk about your Christian life. This power that the Bible speaks of is power to live strong for the Lord. That means during temptation, battles, and attacks from the enemy.
Without the power of the Holy Spirit we can not live the Christian life in victory.
The love of God is a supernatural fruit of the Spirit that is produced in every Christian as you walk faithfully with the Lord. This is how you can forgive even the worst enemies that come against you, only by the Spirit of God do we have this love.
A sound mind is a powerful truth that is promised to every Christian. Today we need a sound mind more than anything else because of the level of bad news continually coming from the world. How do we walk in this promise from God? The promise of a sound mind comes from reading and dwelling in God’s word every day. We must take the time every day to allow our hearts and mind be open to the word of God.
Take time out of your busy schedule and allow the Holy Spirit to guide you through the Bible. This should be done daily with every Christian. This is how many walk in peace and joy even though there is nothing but bad news on the news channels. Forget about what’s happening in the world right now, and begin to fellowship with God with your Bibles open and you will find a powerful place called a “sound mind”.
